History of COLGIS
From January 1, 2008 to July 1, 2011, UUM’s College of Law, Government & International Studies (COLGIS UUM) was headed by an Assistant Vice Chancellor and assisted by three deans, namely the Academic Dean, Dean of Ghazali Shafie Graduate School of Government and Dean of the Students’ Development and Alumni. They were further helped by the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs and the Deputy Dean of Ghazali Shafie Graduate School of Government, besides four Program Chairmen for the Undergraduate Programs.
Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak was appointed as the Vice Chancellor of UUM, on June 16, 2010. After his appointment, he changed the academic colleges into the school system, according to the courses offered by each academic college. Thus, four (4) schools were established in the College of Law, Government & International Studies, UUM (COLGIS UUM) namely the School of Government, the School of Law, the School of International Studies and the School of Tourism, Hospitality and Environmental Management.
Since July 1, 2011, COLGIS UUM has been led by an Assistant Vice Chancellor, four (4) Deans of Schools, the Dean of Ghazali Shafie Graduate School of Government and the Dean of Students’ Development and Alumni. They are further assisted by two (2) Deputy Deans, namely the Deputy Dean of Students’ Development and Alumni and the Deputy Dean of the Ghazali Shafie Graduate School of Government. As for the college's administration, each school has a Head of Department followed by the Coordinators of the programs. These coordinators are also governed by the management of the college through the Director of the Institute of Governance, Innovation and Law (IGIL), the Director of Malaysia’s Institute of Political Analysis (MAPAN), the Director of UUM’S Research Institute for Indonesia, Thailand & Singapore (ITS) and the Director of Strategic & Quality Management.
